Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune, was established in the year 1996 with a divine mission and cherished desire of our Chancellor Hon’ble Dr. P.D. Patil with the blessings of Honorable Dr. D.Y. Patil, Founder President. The institute is further nurtured and progressed under the dynamic leadership of Pro Chancellor, Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Hon’ble (Mrs) Dr. Bhagyashree Patil.
The Vision and Mission of establishing the College, Hospital and Research Centre is making healthcare easily accessible to all.
Since its inception, the Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre has made its mark as an “Institute of Excellence”. Today, it is recognized as a Renowned Teaching and Research Institution in the Country. It has received recognition from the National Medical Commission, New Delhi. The Institute initially started with MBBS Programme (UG) with an intake of 100 seats. It has expanded further with 250 MBBS seats, 220 MD & MS (PG) seats, 30 M.Ch / D.M (Super speciality) seats, MPH programme in one subject, Msc Programme in 4 subjects, Fellowship Courses in 24 subjects, PhD Courses in all medical subjects, Certificate Courses in 8 subjects and Short Term Training Programmes (STTP) in 12 subjects within a short span of 27 years.
Following are the Achievements and Rankings of the College:
• The Institute is recognized by the National Medical Commission (Erstwhile Medical Council of India), New Delhi, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi for conducting Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Superspeciality programs.
• Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune being a constituent unit of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune has been accorded the status of “University” under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
• The Institute is accredited (3rd cycle) by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.64 on a four-point scale at “A++” Grade and it is ISO 9001: 2015 certified Deemed to be University.
• The Institute was ranked 15th in the medical category in the NIRF Ranking 2023.
• In recognition of being a “Safe and Secure Educational Facility”, it was honoured with the Finest India Skills & Talent Award in 2023.
• As part of the Global Recognition Program, the Institution was conferred with the prestigious “IBCLC Hospital-based Care Award 2023”.
• The peer-reviewed journal namely, “The Medical Journal of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth” was included in Scopus and in the list of UGC Care journals for giving academic credits to the faculty.
• Designated as “ICMR Regional Clinical Trial Unit”.
• Also designated by ICMR for the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron Kit Evaluation Program.
• State-of-the-Art NABL-accredited Central Clinical Laboratory Facility for various investigations under Pathology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology.
